We are not all Lutheran.
We are not all students.
But together we are Lutheran Students and Friends Victoria.
Foremostly, we are people who love Jesus. We’ve all hit adulthood and seen or experienced something of today’s culture, which doesn’t think Jesus is important. But we know He is. So we follow him.
We believe it’s pretty important to connect with other Christians (Jesus-followers), to care for them, and to grow in faith and love.
We are a crazy mix of people from all over Victoria, and some from further afar. Many of us have stumbled across the community of LSF Victoria because we’ve moved away from our family and church homes. Some of us hang around for the time it takes to do a degree and get a real job, while others of us have been part of the community for years and years. So we are a community constantly in flux, which is kind of cool.
We connect with, care for and encourage growth in those in and around our community by:
We do our best to:
LSF Victoria is given focus by the aims to connect, care and grow and the broad goals of discipleship, community and mission.
The three goals explained:
How the aims and goals relate to each other is shown in the below table.
Connect with Jesus
Care for our spiritual life
Grow in faith
Connect with other Christians
Care for one another
Grow together in community
Connect with the wider community
Care for the world and people around us
Grow by looking beyond ourselves by giving to and sharing with others
LSF Victoria is the face (and hands, feet and heart) of tertiary ministry within the Lutheran Church of Australia’s Victorian District (LCAVD). We exist to enable Victorian tertiary students and young workers to grow in Christ through service and love to all people, in the power of the Gospel.
We are supported by the LCAVD as well as by congregations throughout Victoria as they reach out to tertiary students in their community.
Under the LCAVD’s Council for Ministry Support, we are led by the Committee for Tertiary Ministry (CTM).
